I'd like to get a sock knitting machine. The only problem is they aren't being made any more and all the existing ones are antiques. I could probably find one for sale online, but they are $1000 - $1500 or more. Any handy machinists out there willing to start making reproductions of the antiques?
I'll bet there is SOME demand out there. Especially those who'd like to make a home-based knitting business, but realizes that hand-knitting socks takes too long.
There are already knitting machines for straight items like sweaters, scarves, and hats. I have one and it works pretty good. I made a ginormous Harry potter scarf with it that took enough yarn that I could have made myself 2 sweaters! It only cost about $100, so not bad for a time saving device.
